Here you see an ordinary person, someone just like you. And behold! Even holding a child in her arms, she’s still able to make a call to her broker, to get some of that high-flying stock. Because time matters, you know. 40 years ago, nobody was day-trading. Commissions were sky high, 1/4 of a dollar per share at the very least. People would just buy a stock, and then sit on it till retirement. But then the crash of 1987 happened. Panicked investors all tried to sell their investments on the same day, and after a few hours, brokers gave up and just stopped picking up their phones.
